Primary school Petar Pop Arsov

Located in Karpos Municipality in Skopje, built in 1970, Primary School ‘Petar Pop Arsov’ provides a quality learning environment that challenges students’ personal best and develops a positive vision for their future. The current school roll is 730 students in grades first through ninth and there is a diverse roll with different cultures in a friendly environment.

The school building itself is a two-storey one, with 22 classrooms. In an effort to encourage improvement in technology, interactive learning and communication, the classrooms are equipped with wireless internet, laptops for teachers and LCD Projectors, which make the school one of the most modern public schools in the area. A new modern, well-equipped media center is also available for teachers and students which includes smart boards. A computer lab is available for teachers and students to promote the skills in the use of computer technology. The usage of ICT in the learning process not only helps students to be more creative but also helps teachers using new methods in the process of teaching.

Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of educational activities offered such as sport, drama, music, art, languages etc and also in different competitions.

The school staff which includes about 60 teachers and administration provides a wide range of programmes according to the State educational programme. The teachers and administration are committed to helping each individual student as well as the students with disabilities. The teachers from our school continuously attend different conferences, seminars, workshops and projects for greater achievement and to improve their educational teaching skills.

The school is focused on providing the best possible education for the students.

Active involvement in many projects including the Erasmus plus programme and Etwinning platform provides great opportunity for our teachers and students to learn, improve and benefit in gaining knowledge, learning new methods and techniques, providing better educational systems and healthy and educated youth in general. Sharing and implementing learnt objectives will be beneficial for the partners and all participants in this project.

The curriculum of our school is prepared by the pedagogy/ psychology department in cooperation with the subject teachers. The programme is divided into several disciplines.. Relevant team works on each discipline showing great results especially in the area of “Team Work and School Climate” considering the fact that the mutual collaboration and respect have a main role in the school functioning. In addition, the school provides modules and forms that encourage mutual collaboration teacher-teacher, Teacher-students, students-students, student-parent. On regular basis, we conduct Student Parliament meetings that take place once in a month. Representatives of each class discuss different students’ issues focusing on democratic participation of students’ opinion in decision making politics of the school.

The project team will consist of teachers who have a contract with our school for more than 15 years and experience in teaching, training and involvement in project management in the last 10 years.

Ms. Aleksandra Petkovska Mitrovska, English teacher-, member of School Board, responsible for English language training, leading the English school club where students are motivated in reading comprehension skills and participating in regional and state English language competitions.

Ms.Biljana Romevski– Coordinator of school language department, Leading Native language and drama club, working with students of all ages, coming from different social backgrounds, preparing them for Native language competitions.

Ms. Mirjana Patarakoska –Maths, Physics and Science teacher, responsible for conducting eco-programme in our school Head of school Science laboratory, leading the Maths club

Ms. Svetlana Jovevska – psychologist, Danijela Panajotova – pedagogue and Ms. Vanja Vrdinova – defectology – consist of the psychology and pedagogy department responsible for teacher- student- parent cooperation. Extensive knowledge in preparing individual operative plans for students with special needs.

Ms.Natasha Stefanovska – History and social studies teacher, Coordinating Cultural Heritage projects, responsible for conducting students parliament meetings and cultural awareness events
